RIFA: Nationwide Study

Nationwide Study
Texas Rural Study
Areawide Study
Texas Urban Study

We have received the information on Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA) in the affected surveyed areas of Texas. From this information, we will be able to base our findings for the rest of the selected states off of the Texas data using multipliers. The states that have been selected for this Nationwide Study include:

Alabama
Arkansas
California
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana
Mississippi
New Mexico
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas

We are also including information from Puerto Rico a long with these states. As of right now, Hawaii has no sign of RIFA. This being said, a potential forecast for costs will be estimated if RIFA ever do make their way to Hawaii.

Objectives of the Nationwide Fire Ant Study:

(1) Identify items that are considered expenditures or costs and those items that have value or benefits, associated with the control and management of Red Imported Fire Ants.

(2) Estimate the costs of various control and management measures used and establish correct number of entities in each sector.

(3) Discover the various ways and areas where fire ants affect the Nation.

(4) Estimate the overall economic impacts associated with fire ants across the Nation to serve as a benchmark to evaluate possible control and management programs implemented by Fire Ant authorities in infested areas.
