This study was based off of information from 1993.  The information pertains to how the turfgrass industry impacts the Texas economy. 

Objectives:

(1)  Identify the major turfgrass related sectors and their economic magnitudes.

(2)  Ascertain the management and maintenance activities by sector and the resulting expenditures.

(3)  Estimate the cost components of turfgrass production and maintenance activities by sector.

(4)  Obtain an estimate of unpaid labor associated with maintenance and care of turfgrass.

(5)  Determine water use, irrigation, and other cultural practices for appropriate sectors or activities.

(6)  Estimate the overall economic impact of the turfgrass industry by incorporating the results of this study with the Texas Input-Output Model to arrive at the multipliers which show the potential revenue, cost, incomes, and employment as a result of turfgrass management and uses by final demanders and associated activities.

(7)  Estimate expenditures, economic importance, and management practices of landscape contractors,  lawn care firms, nursery growers, and retail garden centers.
