This brochure is a condensed version of the the Texas Turfgrass Study 2005 Manuscript. It includes charts and graphs to clarify and shorten the information from the manuscript.
This economic study was conducted by the Department of Agricultural Economics through Texas Agricultural Experiment Station (TAES) and the Texas Agricultural Extension Service (TAEX) now known as Texas Cooperative Extension (TCE) of the Texas A&M University System.
The principal outside sponsor was the Texas Turfgrass Association (TTA), which was joined in sponsorship by the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA). The Texas Turfgrass Economic Impact Study received valuable assistance from the Texas Turfgrass Survey Committee, which consisted of Dr. Richard Duble, Wallace Menn, Robert Holt, and Angus McMillan. They assisted the research team in developing the questions and content for the survey instruments.
The research team was headed by Dr. Curtis F. Lard, Dr. Charles R. Hall, and Dr. Lonnie L. Jones, faculty members in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. Other individuals who assisted with this project over time included Clarinda Smith, Brad Seidel, Becky Berry, Kerinne Schroeder, Julie Jordan, Ryan Titzman, Rong Hu, Brigit Scott, Kristen Pohl, David Bergquist, Jenny Schmidt and Britt Morris who were research assistants employed by the Department of Agricultural Economics. In addition, Dr. Robert Branson (now deceased) served as a consultant for the early research design phases of the study.
*In lieu of more recent survey data, this study was restricted by the IMPLAN Model to
forecast the turfgrass industry economic impact to the 1999 economy. Accurate
assessments of the economic impact beyond 1999 will require another industry survey.
